Colorado Bears Football Team

This project, entitled “Colorado Bears Football Team,” is a branding project that I completed my senior year at Penn State World Campus, which focused on developing a logo for a fictional sports team. To begin the design process, I researched logo design and team rebranding. From this research, I gained insights into what comprises a good team logo, which includes the following attributes: clarity, boldness, professionalism, and color combination. To fulfill the vision for the fictional team logo, I aimed to create a design that would resemble the ferocity of the team, by creating the face of a bear growling. The official colors that make up the logo are red, navy, and yellow, which represents the Colorado state flag. Based on sketches, I created over 5 logo design variations using vector-based design software, such as Illustrator and Photoshop. I then gathered feedback, such as switching colors from navy to red to make the logo pop even more, allowing me to refine and ultimately land on the final design iteration. I presented the final designs by creating multiple mockups which helped out tremendously. The resulting design succeeded as it was altered many times with informational feedback on each mockup before reaching the result. It met the original design intention of being an addition to my personal design portfolio and furthered my interest in design for the sports industry.
